A bit of heat for your Valentine’s Day – Spicy Hot Chocolate

For me, a box of chocolates or a bouquet of flowers in any day of the year is a Valentine’s Day. Since world is considering this day a special one, I do not mind joining them and do something for my partner.

However we do have few major reasons to celebrate 14th February in a grand way.  The first and the most important , the symbol of our love, our little angel girl was born this day and she is going to be ‘4‘ in few days. She was due for May’13, but she chose to see the world few months earlier and she made her way on this special day. Though she had to spent sometime in the hospital, she was strong enough to go through all situations to be with us and explore the world together.

My second reason to celebrate on 14th Feb – last year, this same day, ‘follow my cravings’ became online and started sharing my food journey with all of you guys. As I was getting busy with my family , this platform gave me that positivity to keep my passion for food alive and it made me better and better in every ways.
I guess I am getting a bit emotional by now!!

Well all of your social media must be flooding with Valentine’s day offers and you must have already reserved your table to celebrate the day in a restaurant. I would suggest you take a simple step to prepare something special for your partner on this day, need not to be a grand one though. It can be a cup of tea or a cup of coffee or a simple breakfast or dinner depending on your preferences. It is going to make your partner feel special in a totally different way.

For this day of the year, we will be dining out with our little girl. Hence I wont be preparing any meals at home, instead  I chose to prepare something simple yet a delicious hot drink for Shahul – a cup of Spiced Hot Chocolate, and  the best thing is, it takes just 10 mins.

When I say ‘spicy”, it is not that drink that is going to make you red. It is that drink which has chocolate paired with some sexy flavors and when you take your sip, you know there is a good heat, but not at all overpowering and blends just the right way with rest of the ingredients.

Chocolate, orange, chilli and vanilla are one of the best combinations ever. It makes you dance right were you are and with the chilling weather in Doha, a hot drink with a combination of these ingredients would be just perfect. All you have to do is boil the milk with chilli, orange zest and vanilla pods, pour on to the chocolate and melt it. Back to the pan, add sugar, some cocoa powder to make it more richer and some cornflour dissolved in milk to make it thicker (I like it this way). Cornflour is optional, if you like it thin, omit this step. A pinch of sea salt makes it even more tastier.
Top it up with some whip cream and marshmallows and you are good to go.

It sounds easy, isn’t it? it is super easy to make as well. You just need to get the ingredients and prepare one for him/her. And be ready to get loved !!
