Phuket – Throwback to my last year’s Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day is not just a day of love for me & my husband – it is the day where our first token of love was blessed in our life – Our little girl. She was born on 14.02.2013 as a premature baby. With the grace of God, she has overcame all her health problems and today she is 3 year old big girl.
The time is flying so fast and it feels like we celebrated her second birthday and our valentine’s day in Phuket yesterday. Those days were absolutely gorgeous.
Our motive during our vacation was just ‘relaxation’ and we sticked to our plan. We did not had any reason to go out from the stunning resort we stayed ‘ The Naka Phuket’ . It had everything we imagined in our mind or I could say much more beautiful than that.
‘The Naka’ is located in Kamala bay which is around 10km away from the busy nightlife of patong. The resort is in a secluded area on a hillside with a beautiful beach. It has 94 pool villas with modern interior and service. A truly blissful paradise.
The architecture of the villa were similar to the simplistic steel framed matchbox form , with floor to ceiling wraparound walls of glass, cantilevering out from the mountainside, and with bedrooms hanging between 6ft and 20ft above the ground below guests enjoy a sense of floating mid-air with a beautiful sea view. It had an amazing facilities of our own private pool, Jacuzzi, separate shower room with over sized shower head and toilet. I could not ask for more.
Since our villa was on top of the hill, we had to call for club cars every time we wanted to move around the resort. It did not bother us at all, the cab will be outside your villa within 5 mins of your call. If you are fit enough, you could have a walk as well.
The staff at the resort were very good and friendly. You will be forced to smile looking at them. They are always ready to greet, smile and help. The problem, not just in the resort, throughout Phuket is “Language”. Most of them do not understand English well, we have to speak slowly & with some action. And for that reason, we did had little confusion with our spa booking as the staff did not properly understood what we said.
The resort had two restaurants, The Nava Restaurant & The Nana Bar located near the beach side. The breakfast was at The Nava Restaurant and had a wide variety and quality of food to choose from. You have to climb quite a few stairs to reach the restaurant. We became so lazy in the resort that this stairs are the only place where our body moved a bit and that was exactly the resort’s motive.
The Nana Bar is just a few steps away from the beach and had some amazing drinks, we obviously tried the non-alcoholic and were very fresh and refreshing. We tried their sea food dinner at the beach side, the jumbo prawns and lobster were absolutely delicious.
For those who love Snorkeling, they have a great beach and equipment are available just near the restaurant.
Me and my husband took some time alone and had a in villa Spa by dropping my girl at the kids club -Lots of toys and activities. Again the lady over there was very nice and my girl almost spend two hours with her easily.
The resort offers free shuttle service at fixed timings if you wish to explore the city life. We did make use of it. Otherwise you have to use the paid car services by the resort, also you will not get any other cab outside the resort as it is in a secluded area.
We visited Phuket FantaSea which is definitely a visit if you have kids . It is like a festival city with lots of stalls, games and activities. The major attraction is ‘Fantasy of Kingdom’ show where they depict the cultural story of Thai with magical illusion, 4 dimension in theater effect, aerobatics, special effects, elephant show & stunts etc. It was truly mesmerizing to watch.
Since Phuket had lots of famous beaches like James Bond Island, Phi Phi Island etc, we decided to go to any of one island. Most of the famous islands take a journey of 1 hour or more to reach in a speed boat. So as advised by the Tour guy, we went for ‘Koh Khai Nok’ which is a kids friendly island and requires half an hour speed boat ride. The island was beautiful with perfect turquoise color water and a good place for snorkeling for kids as well as adults. My daughter had real fun out there. Though we also had a great time, our mind were still in the resort.
It was thoroughly heart breaking to leave the resort after our 5 days stay at the beautiful ‘The Naka’. The resort and the people around will always be in our memories . While I am writing down, my mind is literally over there.
We usually look for a hideaway to celebrate valentine’s day and my search end here if I am ever in Phuket . I give them 8/10 ; A definite place to try if you are even in Phuket!!
