It feels so good to write about a place where you are called for reviewing and end up loving it. I am talking about none other than a restaurant placed at the oldest and trendiest hotel Sheraton Grand Doha – & it is the Latino Steak house.
Latino Steak house unveils to Doha the classic dishes from South America, providing an interior and ambiance that depicts true essence of the country and the culture. To add to the beauty of the place, two brilliant and talented artists perform live music to entertain their guests.
With a pleasant and warm smile, we were welcomed by the staff to our table which was next to the open kitchen. And a beautiful and soft spoken lady Ms. Maria approached as she will be our host for the night.
She introduced me to their Argentinian Chef de Cuisine ,Luciano Carobini, who creates and manages the kitchen . As I spoke to him, I could feel his passion and love towards food and his job as a Chef. He said, travelling is the key factor that is giving him inspirations to create beautiful dishes with modern touches. He believes quality of ingredients is essential to deliver best food and at Latino restaurant, for an instant, they get their meat from Argentina and is only grass fed.
As we moved on, my question to him was, what is his favorite dish from the menu ? To that he took a while to answer and then said ‘ everything is my favorite, and if it’s one that I have to choose, I would go with Hammour Ceviche. So, unlike me, if you are a fan of raw good, make sure you try it.
Rather than us choosing the dishes from the menu, we opted to go with Chef’s choices for us keeping in mind our likes and dislikes.
The cornbread served with honey butter with chilli flakes and chimichuri sauce gave a good start to the day. The bread itself was fresh and with a touch of honey butter , it tasted delicious.
Guacamole is our family favorite and here, they prepare it right in front of your table which is very pleasing to watch and tastes just the way it should be along with thin crispy nachos.
The Fish Tacos is not in their menu yet and will be soon available to the public. We were the first to try it and my goodness, it was unbeatable and perfect accompanied with a mango sauce and a spicy Pico Di Gayo ( similar to chuky salsa).
The chicken quesadilla was soft and had a cheesy chicken filling plated on avocado sauce. The empanadas has a crusty exterior with simple yet delicious fillings.
Moving on to the main course, we had a combination of Partiladas which is grilled meat served on skewers with a side of grilled vegetables, salad and french fries along with a selection of sauces. The four different meat were chicken, beef, tuna and prawns. Every piece of meat was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Our favorite from the four definitely was prawns . Absolutely fantastic.
The plating of salad was a piece of art and tasted even better. From the sauces, do try their pepper sauce and mushroom sauce, it was delectable.
At this point, we were so full , yet were enjoying the ambience. The chef however did not wanted to stop feeding us and here comes a beautiful ending to our dining section at Latino Steakhouse – not just one, three different desserts , I know how that sounds.
Crema Catalana – it was a music to your ears to hear the cracking sound of hard thin layer of caramel when you hit the surface with your spoon and beneath lies a creamy rich custard base which you just can’t stop eating.
Dulce de leche cheese cake – beautifully plated, perfect for a romantic dinner, this Cheesecake was as soft as a pillow with a delicious dulce de leche topping. You will never know when you started and when it got over. To add crunchy texture, the plate had a macaroon and merignes.
Passion fruit mousse – when you hear mousse, you will expect a soft creamy dessert, but in this case, it was a frozen passion fruit mousse with a grainy texture. This was our least favorite from the three for some reason.
I could not find a reason why I wouldn’t dine at Latino Steakhouse again and again. From the ambiance to service, to the food, to the Chef , everything was up to the point. A place to hang out with friends, or a place to take your partner for a dinner, I find this place perfect. Highly recommended.
