Friday Brunch at Al Dirwandi Restaurant
I never knew such a Lebanese Restaurant existed until I got an Invitation from Zomato Team to try their first ever Friday Brunch. The restaurant is located Aparthotel Adagio premium, West Bay. Since Zomato has the option of showing ‘Directions’ in their app, it was not difficult to find the location.
The interior of the restaurant did amaze me – Beautiful golden tone with a touch of turquoise colors, traditional decorative pieces and not so loud music playing in the background. The place did really brought a calming sensation. If the climate is good, the outdoor area would be the best place to chose with a nice view of west bay. Apart from normal outdoor seating, they also had small portions apt for family or friends get together.
As mentioned earlier, this was the first Friday brunch Al Dirwandi Restaurant opened for its customers and Zomato team was the first to try it. When we started off, the place was all empty and slowly I could see the crowd started pouring and within no time, the restaurant got busy.
I started off with a Chicken Vermicelli soup which was my first time. The flavors were simple & clean and I pretty much liked it with a squeeze of lemon.
The salad bar for me was the best – everything on the table was fresh, crunchy and tasted yum. The hammus, mouhamara, moutabel were delicious. The green apple salad with an amazing dressing did made me to love it. They had these fried cauliflower and koussa which had a burnt flavour but tasted awesome – Must try.
Moving on to the main course, Cheese sticks were good and the meat kebbeh was soft and delicious. The chicken Biryani was okay, somehow I got a big chunk of ginger piece from it which kind of ruined my palette for few seconds. The pasta was not really pleasing. The two dishes that stood out were – Fish & Prawns cooked in a spicy tomato sauce ( I guess it is Samak Harra) and beef fillet with a buttery potato mash and a sauce. The beef was THE BEST. it was so soft that the meat strings just pulled away from each other and the sauce complimented it so very well. I would visit them just for this.
The dessert had a fruit cake, fruit tart and Oum Ali. The mini tart had the perfect size and flavor- we all enjoyed it. The fruit cake also tasted good. However the Oum Ali was a disappointed as it needed more cream.
Final Verdict : Al Dirwandi is a beautiful looking place to hang out with friends and family and fairly priced. The service was slow and could not cope up with the rush. Though some of the items from the food menu tasted good, few were a bit disappointment . The beef with potato mash is highly recommended.
